Frequently asked questions about registration (FAQs)

Yes, it is possible to register at Cl@ve with a foreign phone number.

  1. Enter the prefix (don't add the + symbol) and the phone number.
  2. If you sign up with a foreign phone number, check that you can receive SMS messages from operators in countries other than your own.

When the registration of a minor is processed, it must be provided:

  • Presentation of the documentation that justifies the identification of the parent or legal guardian who makes the request on behalf of the minor.
  • Presentation of a document justifying parental authority: Family Book or document issued by the Civil Registry for this purpose, judicial resolution of appointment of guardian, etc.
  • The minor will be asked for his/her valid ID, or legally established documentation in case of being a foreigner.

It should be noted that:

  • In the register, the presence of the interested party is always required, even if he/she is a minor.
  • In the case of Spaniards under 14 years of age, the ID of the minor must be provided, which, although it is not obligatory, can always be obtained voluntarily.

OH, NO. The citizen may register in person at any of the authorized registration offices of the Cl@ve system upon identification. To ensure the strict control by the user of the identification means used in the system, face-to-face registration will not be allowed to be carried out by one person on behalf of another.

In the Cl@ve system the telephone number of the registered user is an essential element as it guarantees the exclusive possession of the second authentication factor used in the process of obtaining access codes to the system. For this reason, and to ensure that only the registered user has access to the PIN codes sent to the mobile phone, only one DNI/NIE can be associated to the same mobile number.

This is how it is explained in thepoint 1.6 of Annex I to the Resolution of 14 December 2015 of the Directorate of Information and Communication Technologies

On the other hand, the modification of the mobile phone number associated with a user in the Cl@ve system is specially protected and can only be done through the Internet, accessing theelectronic headquarters of the Tax Agencyor from the application "Cl@ve PIN" for mobile devices, with DNI-e, electronic certificate, also by video call or through personation in a Cl@ve Registration office.

In this way, when the documentation does not match the phone number provided, the following image is shown:

If you see this icon, it means that the management of the Electronic Administration that you are doing requires that the registration in Cl@ve has been done in person or on the Internet with DNIe or electronic certificate.
