What is Cl@ve?

Cl@ve is a system aimed at unifying and simplifying citizens’ electronic access to public services. Its main objective is that the citizen can identify himself before the Administration through concerted keys (user plus password), without having to remember different keys to access the different services.

Cl@ve complements the current access systems by means of DNI-e and electronic certificate, and offers the possibility to perform cloud signing with personal certificates guarded on remote servers.

It is a common platform for identification, authentication and electronic signature, an interoperable and horizontal system that prevents Public Administrations from having to implement and manage their own identification and signature systems, and citizens from having to use different identification methods to interact electronically with the Administration.

In addition to allowing access to electronic procedures for those who do not have an electronic certificate, the Cl@ve system provides easy use, either through a permanent password or a temporary code, and is secure. It is also a system that allows electronic processing on mobile devices that do not support electronic signatures with electronic certificates.

What do I need to get started?

To use the system, you only need to have previously obtained your electronic identification credential through one of the procedures provided.

To do this, you must register in the system either in person, in one of the registration offices adhered to the system, or through the Internet, using a recognized electronic certificate or, if you do not have it, through video call or by letter of invitation. Depending on the chosen method you will have a basic or advanced registration level.

You can get more information about this process in the section of Registration.

When you sign up, you will be provided with two types of access keys:

  • Cl@ve PIN: Oriented to sporadic accesses, with password of very limited validity in time.
  • Cl@ve Permanente: oriented to habitual accesses, and to the use of cloud signing , with password of lasting validity in time, but not unlimited. It is a system of access by user and password, reinforced with single-use keys sent by SMS for certain top-level services.

If you have the Cl@ve app, you can also make use of the option Cl@ve Mobile, which allows you to identify yourself without keys or passwords, simply by scanning a QR or confirming the request that will reach your mobile.

Once you have registered and activated these passwords, you will be able to use Cl@ve in all e-government services that are integrated with the system. You can consult these services in the section of Where can I use it?

Please note that, depending on the characteristics of the service, some identification method may not be available, because the level of security required for access to the service is higher than that which can be provided by that identification method (for example, because the service handles specially protected personal data).
